Sasha Vujacic Reportedly Agreed To A 1-Year Deal With The Knicks For The Veteran's Minimum

NY Post- Knicks shooting guard Sasha Vujacic is back. According to an NBA source, Vujacic has agreed to terms on a one-year deal worth $1.4 million, the veteran’s minimum for players with nine years of experience. Vujacic had been in talks with two other NBA teams and European clubs as well, but a source said he felt the situation will be best back in New York. Vujacic is one of just five players returning from last season’s squad. His agreement gives the Knicks 13 players with guaranteed deals.

Listen I’m not going to bitch and moan about this. Does my hate for Sasha Vujacic burn with the fire of 1000 suns like every other fan that has ever had Sasha play for their team? Of course. But I am way too excited for this upcoming season right now to already be angry about a bench player. Lets save that for Feburary or so, when the depression kicks in as well.

Instead I am going to give Phil the benefit of the doubt for this signing. He brought back a guy that knows the triangle, regardless of how much it will be used under Jeff Hornacek. Vujacic also apparently was a good presence and buddy of our 7’3″ Latvian unicorn (I’m pretty sure I read this somewhere or I just imagined it since they are both from European countries that end in -ia). And most importantly, Sasha gives Knicks fans an easy target for their hate. There are going to be a bunch of new faces here this season and Sasha’s is by far the most hateable. We need to give guys like Derrick Rose, Courtney Lee, Brandon Jennings and Slick Willy a chance to endear themselves to the MSG faithful before we get fed up with them if they get off to a slow start. This also has to be why Kurt Rambis is back. Instead of getting mad at Hornacek for any stumbling out of the gate, we can just talk about how shitty Kurt Rambis is. That’s the only way to explain these two being with the team, as well as Andre Williams’ continued tenure with the Giants and Eric Campbell not being sent to Sibera during his time with the Mets. So hopefully Sasha barely sees the floor this season and we can just dream about a deep playoff run. Because make no mistake about it, this is a playoff team.

(Did it work? Did I turn a Sasha Vujacic re-signing with the Knicks story into a positive blog? I blacked out like Frank The Tank during the debate scene in Old School)
